- You are welcome to bring your own alcohol; it will also be available for sale. No alcohol in the dugouts or on the fields.
Tournament Rules:
- The game will consist of six innings. If after 50 minutes, play is into an inning the inning will be completed and the game is over.
- The first run scored each game is counted as 1.5 runs.
- The home plate umpire will be the official scorekeeper.
- 12” softballs will be used regardless of the composition of your team.
- A coin flip will determine the home team.
- All players MUST bat in order.
- Traffic cones will be used to designate bases, pitching area, and foul lines.
- Mercy rule is 12 runs after 3 innings and 10 runs after 4 innings.
- The home-run rule will be 4 homeruns per game; any subsequent homeruns after the 4 will be recorded as an out.
- If a team has either 8 or 9 players only one out will be recorded at the end of the batters line-up.
- If a team has more than 10 players, each extra player may bat. Up to 12 batters.
- A team with 7 or less players is considered a forfeit.
- Courtesy Runner- a player must reach first base and then may have a sub-runner by the last person of the same sex who made an out.
- When a batter enters the batter’s box area, the count begins at one ball and one strike. No courtesy foul-When a ball is fouled after the second strike, the batter is ruled out.
- A base runner may not take a lead until the ball has crossed the plate or the ball is hit.
- The “carpet rule” for calling balls and strikes will be used in all games. A carpet 3 feet in length will be attached to home plate. When the ball is pitched, if it lands on any part of the carpet, it will be called a strike. Any ball which lands on the plate or off the carpet will be called a ball. The catcher must allow the ball to drop. The umpire will have the final say on balls and strikes.
- Pitch height- any pitch that is less than 6’ from the ground or higher than 12’ from the ground will be an illegal pitch, which will result in a ball. It is at the batters discretion to choose which pitches to swing at.
- When a ball is in play and is overthrown (out-of-play territory); the ball is dead and the one-plus-one rule is in effect. The one-plus-one rule is the base runner gets to go to the base they were going too plus one more. If the ball stays in play, it is a live ball.
- Infield-fly rule shall be in effect when there are 0 or 1 outs and runners on 1st and 2nd, or 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
